Im Scared to Fall for Someone Again

We are the millennial generation, and while breakups are now a part our lives, we still haven't gotten used to them. Sleepless nights, hours of contemplation and the constant grief - when a serious relationship ends, it damages you from within and it's tough to move on. We don't give enough importance to how much a breakup can hurt a person, so much so, we are afraid to fall in love again. But is it really fair, though? We don't think so. If you are scared to love again after a failed relationship, here's how you can cope in a new one.

1. Let It All Out

It's important to let your feelings out, and while people will tell you to stop crying again and again, it's healthy to express your emotions, whichever way you can. Since crying is the reflex action after a failed relationship, it's okay to do so.

2. Forgive (And, Maybe Forget Too)

One thing that'll definitely help you move on is forgiving. Though, it's one of the toughest thing to do after a relationship ends, it's important to forgive your ex and even yourself. Blaming never really helps and can only lead to resentment.

3. Get Rid Of Regret

Often after breaking up, we question the things that happened and how differently we could have handled them. But to be honest, what's done is done, and if there's nothing you can do to undo it, what's the point? Regretting a decision will only make things worse.

4. Take Your Time

Spending years with someone and then suddenly, breaking up with them leaves a void in your life and it takes time to fill up. It's okay to take things slow and focus on yourself for a while. Rushing into rebound relationships is just an escape we should all avoid. It never ends on a good note.

5. Share Your Grief

Talk to your friends and family about your broken up relationship, instead of sulking about it on your own. Sharing your grief helps you process your breakup better. Of course, you need people who are genuine and are ready to hear you out. Trust us, you will instantly feel better.

6. Let Go Of Your Insecurities

Once your heart is broken, you are scared it won't mend, ever again. There's a feeling of insecurity that just doesn't go away and you need to fight it. Letting go of your insecurities and trusting a person is the first step you take towards building a new relationship.

7. Take A Leap Of Faith

It's okay to take a leap of faith and trust someone who you are genuinely attracted towards. Often we question our decision to spend time with someone new, but seriously, what's the harm? Get to know the person and then make a judgement call instead of calling off a date just because of your overthinking.

8. Don't Find Old Things In Your New Found Love

It's in human nature to compare one relationship to another. But every person is different and has different quirks. If you'll try to find old things in your new found love, you will miss out on things that this new relationship is offering you.

9. Don't Question Yourself

Don't question the timing. Don't question your choice. Don't question yourself. When we break up, we end overthinking, so much so, we question every step we take in the direction towards making a new relationship work. Go with the flow and let things happen at their own time and pace.

10. Be Honest

Be honest about your feelings. If you do feel like you're falling for someone, let that feeling exist and don't try to kill it. Talk about your feelings without any inhibitions. If it's supposed to happen, it will, and if not, don't let it pull you down.

11. It's Okay To Love, Again

...and again. With so much negativity in our lives, love is probably that one thing that holds us all together and so, it's okay to fall in love after a failed relationship. Don't be afraid and don't think about anyone else but yourself. If you want it, just make it happen.
